KATAMANSU BATTLE OF 1826

This is how the historical facts about the Katamansu Battle ensued. Therefore, some people would go all lengths to distort history. The Asantes will also do all they can to expose such people to the world is a statement to be taken seriously whether you are an academic, a historian or a lay person.
The Asantes did not own that part of coast at the time and did not like the Ga-Adangme taking the middleman stance in their trading with the British , so they, the Asantes decided among other clandestine motives to use force or revolt against the idea.
That move as well as their expansionist initiative was defeated woefully by the Ga-adangmes. The most important thing that enabled the the Ga- Adangmes was, they were supported by some ethnic groups like the Fantes, Akyims, Ewes and other southern tribes.
This enable them to defeat the Asantes during the Katamansu Battle.The Asantes fought and lost dreadfully. Finally, the Asantes did not hold any southern state of Ghana as vassals [bondsmen or slaves]. It was their own men whom they held as bondsmen and wanted to sell to the British as slaves. Furthermore, it was the Ga-Adangmes who defeated Asantes and took some of the Asante men as prisoners of war [POW] in the Katamansu Battle and not the British.
That defeat of the Asantes by the Ga-Adangmes really stopped the slave trade and did not help the British to further colonise the Gold coast [now Ghana]. It is also important to note here that the correct reference is the Battle of Katamansu and not Akatamanso.
